Call for Papers:

Training Curiosity: Papers in honor of Keith Johnson 

We invite submissions to a special issue of Language and Speech that
celebrates the career and contributions of Dr. Keith Johnson. Keith Johnson’s
scholarship spans nearly four decades, providing theoretical and empirical
contributions and even revolutions to a broad swath of phonetic inquiries and
all adjacent subdisciplines, including, but hardly limited to phonology,
psycholinguistics, historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, and
neurolinguistics. In the spirit of Keith’s style, we encourage collaboration
across researchers with complementary theoretical and methodological angles
from academic and industry perspectives on topics that speak to Keith’s impact
on our disciplines. 

Drs. Yao Yao, Elizabeth Strand, Grant McGuire, and Molly Babel will serve as
Guest Editors of the issue. The deadline for one page abstracts is August 1,
2022. Please submit abstracts to Molly Babel (molly.babel at ubc.ca). Invitations
to submit full papers to the special issue will be shared on September 15,
2022. Full papers are to be submitted for peer review by February 1, 2023.
