Description:
The Department of Linguistics at the Heinrich-Heine-University Duesseldorf
(Germany) invites applications for a funded 1-year full-time postdoc research
position in Computational Linguistics (100% TV-L 13 German salary scale), to
begin December 1, 2022 (or the earliest date thereafter). The initial
appointment is for 1 year, with a possibility of an extension.
The appointment is in the Department of Linguistics which includes a
Computational Linguistics section and emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach
to the study of language. It provides an exceptionally rich and stimulating
environment for research at the intersection of linguistics with several areas
of cognitive science.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct research in computational
linguistics and assume an energetic role in the preparation of grant
proposals, in advising PhD and MA students in the area of computational
linguistics and related fields. Knowledge of German is not required.
The position does not involve any teaching duties but, if desired, teaching a
limited amount of courses is possible.
Requirements:
- Completed Ph.D. degree (or an equivalent degree) in Computational
Linguistics or Computer Science by the time of application.
- Expertise should include one (or more) of the following: recurrent neural
networks for language models, distributional semantics, probabilistic
approaches to NLP, experience in experimental methodology.
