Discourses, Cognition will be held on 27 March, 2023 through 29 March, 2023.
Call for Papers:
The Department of Language and Communication of the Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences in Konin, Poland is
pleased to invite abstracts of papers relevant, but not restricted to the
proposed topics:
CONFERENCE TOPICS
- cultural and language contacts from synchronic and diachronic perspectives
- language, cognition, and culture interaction – cultural conceptualizations
and cognitive processes
- literature and culture in contact
- cultural phenomena in digital discourses (from Facebook to TikTok; from hate
speech to memes; gaming and multimodality)
- translation and localization practices
- culture-specificity of political discourses
- educational and practical aspects of bilingualism and multilingualism
- translator training in the multi-cultural technology-driven world
- specialized languages and use
Languages of the presentations are English and Polish. However, the
post-conference articles will be published in English only.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT
All abstracts of papers should be submitted with your name and paper title in
.doc(x) formats directly to the conference email address at cc at konin.edu.pl.
Abstracts should be limited to 300 words of text and should include up to 5
keywords.
“LANGUAGES OF OFFENCE IN DIGITAL DISCOURSE” WORKSHOP
We are pleased to announce that the C&C2023 conference will host a workshop
organized by Barbara Lewandowska-Tomaszczyk and Marcin Trojszczak from
University of Applied Sciences in Konin. The workshop focuses on various
facets of offensive language found on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and other
social media including its explicit (e.g., slurs, direct insults, swear words)
and implicit instances (e.g., irony, metaphors, hyperbole) analysed from
linguistic, pragmatic, and computational perspectives. Workshop abstracts
should be submitted at the conference email address cc at konin.edu.pl,
indicating the title of the workshop.
The conference will be held in ONLINE FORMAT ONLY.
