Meeting Description:

UKLVC is a biennial conference that showcases international research on
language variation and change, sociolinguistics, and dialectology, as well as
applications of these branches of linguistics to a variety of different
fields. We seek to foster diversity in theoretical and methodological
approaches to the study of language variation in all of its forms and across a
wide range of linguistic and cultural contexts. Research does not need to be
restricted to communities in the British Isles.

Call for Papers:

The 14th UK Language Variation and Change (UKLVC14) conference will take place
in-person from 26-28 June 2022 at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

We are delighted to announce that our confirmed keynote speakers are:

- J Calder (University of Colorado Boulder)
- Hannah Gibson (the University of Essex)
- Nick Palfreyman (the University of Central Lancashire)
- Isabelle Buchstaller (the University of Duisburg-Essen)

Abstracts are invited for papers (oral presentations and posters) on original,
unpublished research related to the study of language variation. We welcome
submissions from scholars based in the UK and internationally; research does
not need to be restricted to communities in the British Isles.

Abstracts should be submitted via Easy Chair:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=uklvc14. They should be no more than
500 words long, and a maximum of 1 A4 page of text.

Abstract submission deadline: 31st October 2022

Notification of acceptance: Early January 2023
