Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University invites applications

African American Language, from any research perspective within linguistics.
Our department has concentrations in applied linguistics, computational

For the first year, the successful candidate will hold the title of Provost’s
Distinguished Faculty Fellow. The Provost’s Distinguished Faculty Fellow
Program at Georgetown attracts new faculty from a wide range of backgrounds
who demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Provost’s
Distinguished Fellows are on the tenure track, and will be exempt from

will devote their full-time effort to building their research programs. The
regular teaching load for this position is 2-2. Fellows will be paired with

in teaching as well as research. They should also demonstrate in their
application a commitment to academic excellence and diversity, equity, and

ways, including through teaching and research on matters related to DEI or
through service that fosters DEI in a university community.

knowledge of a diversity of linguistic phenomena through different modes of
inquiry. We examine language through its structure, acquisition, use in
context, and via computational models. We value the legitimacy and relevance
of research at every level of analysis. We house a doctoral program and a
master's of science which are structured along four concentrations, and we
offer a major and a minor in linguistics. With all our curricular programs,
our faculty and student research, and our service to the field and the

of unique pluralism.
