Subject: A Guide to Linguistic Inclusion of Migrants (book)
The Guide to Linguistic Inclusion of Migrants is intended to turn the
INCLUDEED proposal, an Erasmus+ project that aims to integrate immigrants and
refugees through one of Europe's main assets, its languages, into a tangible
product. Through an informative but rigorous language, this publication seeks
to bring the reader closer to the theoretical advances in this field and to
offer various resources that can be put into practice in real life. Based on
the experience in this field of the universities that make up the INCLUDEED
consortium (University of Salamanca, University of Bologna, University of
Coimbra, University of Heidelberg, University of Poitiers and Trinity College
Dublin), this book arises from the joint effort and the desire to achieve an
egalitarian society in terms of integration. Likewise, the support of various
non-governmental organisations (Red Cross, ACCEM, the CEPAIM Foundation and
the Sierra-Pambley Foundation) dedicated to the reception and integration of
migrants and refugees throughout Europe, has facilitated the identification of
difficulties and allowed bridging different perspectives and bringing them
together to converge in the same direction.
Each of the six chapters of the Guide addresses different challenges that
arise in the period of integration of migrant groups and offers solutions that
can favor the achievement of this complex process. Designed as a useful
vademecum for the tasks of different groups (language teaching professionals
or volunteers, non-governmental organisations and national and supranational
public institutions), it is intended as a support tool to guide the actions of
all those involved in the process of linguistic integration of the newcomer,
providing them with a better understanding of the situation in which these
groups find themselves and of the existing tools to achieve it.
The Guide is also multilingual, as it is available in the six official
languages of the countries of the participating universities (English, French,
German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and French). Each of these versions has
specific socio-cultural information, which broadens the perspective of most of
the materials created so far and gives it the character of an international
reference work that it aims to achieve.
Guide freely available for download in six languages:
