The Department of Linguistics at Stony Brook University is participating in a
University-wide interdisciplinary hiring initiative, the IDEA Fellows program.

provides an excellent and collegial environment for research and scholarship.
We encourage applicants with PhDs (completed by the start date) from all
subfields whose interests and activities align with the IDEA Fellows program,
to apply.

initiative, the 5 Topic Hiring Areas, and qualifications for applicants.
Specifically, applicants from Linguistics-related fields would fall within the
"Health Disparities & Critical Health" and "Ethical AI, Information Systems,
and Data Science & Literacy" topic areas. Within "Health Disparities &
Critical Health", linguistics-related research could fall within "access" and
"communication" themes involving sign language linguistics and/or
communications disorders. Within "Ethical AI, Information Systems, and Data
Science & Literacy", linguistics-related research could fall within the "data
science" theme involving computational linguistics
This is a two-year position to commence in Fall 2023. Multiple fellows will be
hired across 5 thematic hiring areas. There are also opportunities for these
IDEA Fellows to transition to tenure-track faculty positions after two years.
