Description:

The Chair of German Linguistics, Semiotics and Multimodal Communication at the
Faculty of Humanities, University of Technology Chemnitz, offers a vacancy for
a part-time research associate (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible, subject
to the provision and approval of external funding by the external funding
body.

Research Associate (m/f/d) (50 %, pay group 13 TV-L)

The position is limited until 30.06.2025. There is the option of a temporary
increase (to 75 % or 100 %) during the project start-up phase. Selection for
the position will be based on suitability, qualifications and professional
performance. Chemnitz University of Technology is particularly keen to promote
women and therefore expressly invites qualified women to apply. In the case of
equal suitability, severely disabled persons or persons of equal status will
be given priority in accordance with SGB IX.

The following work tasks are connected with the position:
 - Work within a research project on digital exhibitions (a specific type of
website)
 - Design and implementation of studies on the reception of digital
exhibitions using a modern eye tracker
 - Study evaluation; candidates should be willing to familiarise themselves
with statistical evaluation procedures
 - Software-based annotation of websites using an existing analysis framework
(probably using MaxQDA)
 - Collaboration on scientific publications, conference visits, etc.

You will use your research results for scientific publications and your own
qualification. The position offers options for further scientific
qualification.

If you are interested in working in an interdisciplinary, highly motivated
team and in dealing academically with a topic of high practical relevance, we

You should have the following qualifications:
 - Completed academic university degree in the field of digital humanities,
linguistics, computer science, media studies, museology, experimental
psychology or comparable disciplines, which gives access to the necessary
qualification level. (This will usually be a MA degree or diploma, not a BA
degree.)
 - Knowledge in the fields of digital humanities or web design as well as
experience in planning, conducting and evaluating experimental studies is an
advantage.
 - Experience with experimental work, especially with eye tracking, or
willingness to familiarise yourself with it.
 - Good German and English (written and spoken).
