Meeting Description:
NEW10 welcomes papers on any aspect of English varieties associated
with the linguistic north of the British Isles. As the conference is
taking place in Chester - the gateway to Wales - we welcome papers on
Welsh English and English in Wales, particularly those which focus on
North Wales.
NEW10 will also include a special session on representation of dialect
or place in spoken or written texts, and abstracts for this session
are encouraged.
Call for Papers:
We welcome abstracts of no more than one side of A4 (including
references and figures) on any aspect of English varieties associated
with the linguistic north of the British Isles. As the conference is
taking place in Chester - the gateway to Wales - we welcome papers on
Welsh English and English in Wales, particularly those which focus on
North Wales.
NEW10 will also include a special session on representation of dialect
or place in spoken or written texts, and abstracts for this session
are encouraged.
Presentation slots will be 25 minutes in length with 15-20 minutes for
the main presentation and 5-10 minutes for questions and discussion.
The deadline for abstracts is Monday 8th January 2024 by 11:59pm. and
you should expect to hear whether your abstract has been expected by
Monday 5th February.
Please submit your abstract in Word (or equivalent) and PDF format via
email to new10 at chester.ac.uk with NEW10 abstract as the subject line.
There is no need to anonymize your abstract; please include your name,
affiliation, title, abstract body and reference list in the document.
