Description:

The Department of English Studies of Heidelberg University is offering
a position as a Research Assistant (f/m/d) with possibility to become
Predoc/Postdoc

Under the Chair of English Studies: Linguistics (Professor Heyd), full
time, 39.5 hours/week, to be filled as of April 1, 2024. The position
is a full-time (100%), fixed-term (3 years initially with a
possibility of renewing the contract for an additional 3 years) offer.

Your tasks:
 - Research in the field of English sociolinguistics or discourse
analysis, preferably with one or more of the following main topics:
language and digital practice, language and gender, English as a
global resource
 - Working towards a doctorate or Habilitation
 - Academic teaching in the degree programs of the English Department
with a teaching load of four hours per week
 - Active participation in conferences and publishing research papers
 - Assistance with the development of teaching and research projects
of the chair, in particular the establishment of a digital research
methods platform
 - Assistance with administrative and organizational tasks in the
Department of English Studies

Your profile:
 - A very good university degree in an English studies program with a
substantial component in English linguistics
 - Research interests in the field of English sociolinguistics, corpus
linguistics or discourse analysis
 - Excellent command of English (C2) and very good command of written
and spoken German (B2)
