Description:

The Center for Language Research (CLR) was established the same year as the
University of Aizu (1993) to foster research in English for Specific Purposes
with special emphasis on the English needed for study and work in computer
science and engineering. In addition to our research, professors in the CLR
help students to improve their English in all four of the traditional skills:
listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Qualifications:
 - Doctorate in hand (or proof of imminent completion) in a relevant field
 - Experience in teaching the knowledge and techniques required for
standardized tests such as TOEIC, TOEFL, or IELTS (completion of an instructor
qualification course in one or more of these tests will be viewed favorably)
 - Ability to teach TOEIC in Japanese, if necessary
 - Experience in teaching EFL (Experience in EST - English for Science and
Technology - will be viewed favorably)
 - Scholarly publications and professional experience
 - Native or near-native English language ability
 - International experience (preferable for candidate to have lived, studied,
or worked outside their native country; experience in Japan will be viewed
favorably)

Duties: Teach eight courses per year (average of two per quarter); these are
usually five unique courses plus three repeated sections); courses meet for
fourteen 100-minute classes; courses may include TOEIC/EFL courses and a
Thesis Writing course; serve on committees; conduct and publish research
