The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in The School of Health

Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences at Adelphi University
invites applications for a Department Chair, at a Tenured Associate or Full
Professor level, to start in the 2023.
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers a vibrant and
diverse clinical and research environment in which academic and clinical
faculty are dedicated to providing students with the highest level of
professional training in the classroom and within its own Hy Weinberg Center
for Communication Disorders
(https://www.adelphi.edu/education/community-engagement/hy-weinberg-center/) ,
as well as in the New York metropolitan community. The Department offers
degrees at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. Adelphi University and
the Department are deeply committed to a community of excellence, equity, and

Responsibilities:
- Foster diversity, equity, collaboration, and communication among students,
faculty, clinical faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Promote and model excellence in teaching, research, clinical practice, and
service.
- Manage all aspects of departmental administration.
- Lead the department in curriculum innovation and interprofessional program
development.
- Oversee all aspects of annual accreditation and re-accreditation
requirements
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Speech-Language Pathology,
Audiology, or related fields.
- Provide service to school, college, university, and community.
- Aid in student recruitment and retention efforts in collaboration with the
college and the university.
- Help promote a research culture in the department.
- Actively seek grant opportunities for the department.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, or related
fields.
- A record commensurate to being appointed at the Tenured Associate or Full
Professor level at Adelphi University.
- Demonstrated experience in management and leadership in Speech-Language
Pathology, Audiology, or related fields.
- A strong record of scholarship, teaching excellence, university and
professional service, and clinical practice.
- Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations
