Meeting Description:
The South Asian Languages Analysis (SALA) Roundtable is a long-established
annual meeting for the dissemination of research of all kinds into the
languages of South Asia. The first SALA Roundtable was organised in 1978 at
the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and since then SALA has been
hosted by a long list of institutions in North America, South Asia, and
Europe.
The 31st SALA Roundtable is hosted by the Ca' Foscari University of Venice,
Italy.

We are pleased to announce that the 37th South Asian Languages Analysis
Roundtable (SALA-37) will take place on October 4-7, 2023 at the Ca’ Foscari
University, Venice, Italy.
We invite submissions in any area related to the field of South Asian
languages and linguistics, addressing, but not limited to, the following
topics:
- Descriptive studies
- Comparative and typological studies
- Language contact
- Sociolinguistics
- Morphology and Syntax
- Semantics and Pragmatics
- Phonetics and Phonology
- Historical linguistics and philology
- Computational linguistics
- Corpus and quantitative linguistic studies
- Language acquisition
- Language policies
- Endangerment of minority languages
Presentations will last 20 minutes, with 5 min. for discussion, and 5 min. for
speaker and room changes.
Submission instructions:
Please send your abstract to sala.conference.37 at gmail.com no later than March
31, 2023. All abstracts should adhere to the following guidelines:
- Anonymity: abstracts should be anonymous and any identifying information
(i.e. names of the presenters, their affiliations or addresses) must be
removed;
- Length: 1 page excluding examples, tables and references;
- Format: abstracts should be submitted in PDF format;
- authors should indicate in their abstract whether they wish to present
their paper in the general session or in the co-organized workshop Complex
verb constructions in Indo-Aryan and beyond (Convenors: Eystein Dahl and
Beatrice Grieco).
Notification of acceptance/rejection will be given by May 10, 2023.
Registration will open on May 11, 2023 upon a registration fee of 70 euros
(full registration) / 30 euros (reduced fee for undergraduate and PhD
students, Post-Doc researchers, and South-Asian citizens).
