Subject: Introducing ILLSA
Introducing the International Linguistics and Language Students’
Organization (ILLSA)
We are ILLSA, an international student organization founded in 2021 by
a multinational group of linguistics and language students.
What do we do?
Our goal is to connect students all over the world, to foster exchange
between them, and to provide them with useful resources. At the
moment, we are planning different kinds of international (online)
events, among them hangouts and game nights, talks and workshops, and
other events on useful topics. We are also working on setting up a
database containing resources for students (such as a list of degree
programs all over the world, information on scholarships,
(under)graduate journals, student conferences etc.).
We are always open to suggestions with respect to what else we could
do as an international student organization.
Why?
Linguistics and language students are scattered all over the planet
with more or less knowledge of the opportunities concerning study
programs, job and exchange opportunities, conferences, and
possibilities to connect with other students. We want to foster
connection among students and make them aware of the opportunities
that they have as language and linguistics students. While doing so,
we are committed to include students from as many countries as
possible and address their specific needs and wishes.
Who can join us?
All students who study linguistics or have a language-related
component in their studies (e.g. students studying a specific language
family, teacher trainees, students in the speech sciences etc.) are
welcome to join ILLSA. Student groups and organizations are also very
welcome to do so. Attending our events and benefiting from the
resources that we are planning to provide is possible independent of
that.
We are always looking for new volunteers! If you like what we are
doing and would like to get involved, feel free to contact us and
attend our next board meeting.
Where can we be found?
You can find us on our social media accounts here:
