Description:
We are looking for a reliable and motivated personality (f/m/x) to
assist in the implementation and analysis of linguistic experiments.
The Experimental Linguistics in Cologne (XLinC) Lab at the University
of Cologne is equipped with EEG, eye-tracking, reaction time and
speech production facilities including mobile EEG and eye-tracking
devices. Our research focus lies on semantics, pragmatics and prosody,
with new advances in language processing in interactive communicative
situations.
YOUR TASKS
- The prospective candidate will support experimental research in the
XLinC Lab with a particular emphasis on data collection, processing
and analysis.
- Your main task will be to assist in experiment design, data
collection, data processing, statistical analysis and data
visualization of experiments.
- A central focus will be on processing and analyzing data from
interactive communication studies, which requires excellent
programming skills.
- You will also create pipelines and workflows that can be used by
the researchers in the XLinC Lab.
- You will further provide training for researchers and students.
YOUR PROFILE
- A doctorate in a relevant subject area (linguistics, computational
linguistics, psychology, cognitive science, computer science, or
similar)
- Very good knowledge of experimental research
- Excellent knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics
- Demonstrated programming experience, for instance with any of R,
Python, MATLAB, or C++; knowing Julia is an asset
- Very good knowledge of English and German
- Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary setting
- Very good communication skills
- Experience with the analysis of multimodal data and an interest in
Open Science is a plus.
The position is available immediately on a full-time basis (39,83
hours per week). It is limited until 31 December 2024. A possible
extension of the position is dependent on a project extension. If the
applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal
qualifications, the salary will be based on remuneration group 13 TV-L
of the pay scale for the German public sector.
