University or Organization: University of Copenhagen
Department: Department of Computer Science
Job Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Web Address: http://diku.dk/
Job Title: PostDocs in Speech Recognition, Handwritten Character Recognition, & AI Fairness
Job Rank: Post Doc

Specialty Areas: Computational Linguistics; Natural Language Processing; Machine Learning

Description:

We announce three post-doc positions in natural language processing and
machine learning: one on fair speech recognition (for two years) and two on
hand-written character recognition (for 18 months). All three postdocs will be
part of the CoAStaL research group and work with Professors Anders Søgaard,
Desmond Elliott, and Daniel Hershcovich. See https://coastalcph.github.io/ for
group members.

The postdoc on fair speech recognition will be part of a larger project funded
by the Innovation Fund Denmark. The overall goal is to develop learning
algorithms for inducing fair ASR models, i.e., models that are robust to
dialectal and sociolectal variation. The two postdocs on hand-written
character recognition will be part of a larger project funded by the Novo
Nordisk Foundation. The overall goal there is to develop robust hand-writing
recognition algorithms for parish records and other historical registers. All
three postdoc positions will be excellent chances to publish with some of the
best researchers in NLP/AI at top venues such as ACL, EMNLP, and NeurIPS, as
well as general science outlets.

The postdoc’s duties will include research within fair speech recognition or
hand-written character recognition as well as limited teaching. The post may
also include performance of other duties.

Further information on the Department is linked at
