Meeting Description:
Theme: Resilience, Creativity, and Innovation in Applied Linguistics
Only a short time ago, the world seemed to be disconnected, but in
some ways, became more connected as a community. Looking back, it is
obvious that the work of applied linguistics played a crucial role.
The reporting of events, timely collection of information which then
needed to be quickly disseminated, sharing stories, learning from each
other through actions and modified behaviour. There has never been a
more important time in recent history where the work of applied
linguistics played a crucial role. The valuable contributions of our
field were present in learning, living, binding, healing and seeking
justice. So, it is about time that we acknowledge the key role applied
linguistics plays in our society, locally and globally, in all its
many forms. It is time to celebrate the resilience, creativity, and
innovation that is at the heart of our field.
Join us at the University of Wollongong to share and celebrate applied
linguistics in our lives from 19-21 November 2023.
