Meeting Description:
The Fifth Mauricio Swadesh Colloquium is part of the 50th anniversary
of the Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas (UNAM, Mexico).
This Colloquium is hosted with the aim of presenting and discussing
recent findings in the study of native languages of the Americas from
different theoretical perspectives. The topic of this year's
colloquium will be "Advances in the Study of Time, Aspect, Mood and
Evidentiality in Native Languages of Mexico and Neighboring Areas".
During these days, researchers, professors, and graduate students will
gather to present their work and exchange ideas, and discussion on any
topic related to the expression of temporality, aspectuality, modality
and evidentiality in native languages of Mexico and neighboring
regions, from both synchronic and/or diachronic perspectives.
Call for Papers:
V COLOQUIO DE LINGÜISTICA MAURICIO SWADESH
The Department of Linguistics at the Instituto de Investigaciones
Antropológicas (IIA) of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México
(UNAM) is honored to invite participants for the V Coloquio de
Lingüística Mauricio Swadesh, which will be held in person on
September 20, 21 and 22 this year in Mexico City.
There will be two keynote speakers and courses taught by them:
– Lisa Matthewson (The University of British Columbia, Canada)
– Zygmunt Frajzyngier (University of Colorado Boulder, USA)
The official languages of the Colloquium will be Spanish and English.
We extend an invitation to submit an anonymous abstract in Spanish or
English (350 words limit) to the following registration form:
http://bit.ly/ColoquioSwadesh. Participations can be individual or
co-authored, with a maximum of one presentation in each modality per
author. The anonymous abstract must be attached to the registration
form in PDF file; Only the title of the presentation should be
included within the PDF. Presentations will consist of 25 minutes plus
five minutes for questions. Abstracts will be received from the
publication of this call of papers and no later than April 15th.

Submission of paper proposals deadline: April 15th
Notification of acceptance: April 30th
Confirmation of participation: June 15th
Program publication: August 31st
