Call for Papers:
The workshop is aimed at fostering discussions on how learner corpus
research (LCR) does and can benefit the second and foreign language
acquisition (SLA) research paradigm, complementarily to experimental
approaches. We therefore welcome papers presenting both corpus-based
and corpus-driven research, as well as reports of experiments,
surveys, etc. Contributions may include, but are not limited to the
following research directions:
- the combined use of learner corpus data and experimental data in SLA
research;
- learner corpus design, collection, annotation, exploitation for
testing particular SLA theories;
- error analysis and interlanguage profile at certain stages of SL /
FL development;
- differences in the development of learner vocabulary, grammar,
pragmatics and cultural appropriateness;
- case studies through contrastive interlanguage analysis (CIA).
We particularly encourage proposals that investigate the acquisition
of (relatively) underresearched non-native languages, such as
Romanian. Thus, papers exploiting any kind of learner corpus (raw or
bespoke, as well as electronic, annotated; “natural” or “peripheral”;
big or small, etc.) are acceptable.
Abstracts, no longer than 500 words (references excluded), in Times
New Roman, size 12, will be sent by attachment to:
bucla8 at lls.unibuc.ro and carmen.vasile at unibuc.ro (Carmen Mîrzea
Vasile).
Presentations will be scheduled for 30-minute slots (20 minutes
presentation followed by 10 minutes for discussions). The workshop
language is English.
Authors may submit up to two first-authored abstracts.
All authors who present in the colloquium will be invited to submit
their paper for a volume of selected contributions.
