Meeting Description:
Background:
The OCP is an annual event gathering researchers specializing in
phonology and related fields, interested in both theoretical and
experimental issues. It was founded in 2003 by a group of linguistists
from the Leiden University Center for Linguistics and the Meertens
Institute, and has since grown into an international forum attented by
both senior and junior linguists. OCP has been hosted in different
places, mainly in Europe: Tours, Donostia, Eivissa, Warsaw, Verona,
London, Düsseldorf, Budapest, Barcelona, Leiden, Istanbul, Berlin,
Marrakech, Nice, Edinburgh, Toulouse, Rhodes, Budapest, Tromsø and
Leiden.
Call for Papers:
We welcome abstract submissions for the 21st Old World Conference in
Phonology (OCP21):
- to be held in person in Leipzig, Germany, from February 14-16, 2024
- Deadline for abstract submission: September 15, 2023
The main sessions of the OCP21 will be preceded by a satellite
workshop "Tone in Grammar" on February 13, 2024.
We are delighted to announce the following invited speakers:
- Ricardo Bermúdez-Otero (University of Manchester)
- Adamantios Gafos (University of Potsdam)
- Laura McPherson (Dartmouth College) - Workshop "Tone in Grammar"
- Rachel Walker (University of California at Santa Cruz)
We welcome submissions on any topic in phonology from any theoretical
perspective and methodology. We invite abstracts for talks (20
minutes, followed by 10 minutes of discussion) or posters. We
particularly welcome submissions from students and early career
researchers. Everybody may submit maximally two abstracts, only one of
which may be single-authored. Abstracts will be (blindly)
peer-reviewed by an international panel of reviewers.
Note that the workshop Tone in Grammar has its own call for papers
with the same deadline
Abstract guidelines
- Max. 2 pages of A4 paper, including references, examples, tables,
and figures
- 12pt Times New Roman font or similar
- 1in (2.54cm) margins on all sides
- The abstract must not reveal the identity of the author in any way
- PDF format
Abstracts not following these guidelines will be rejected without
review
