Subject: Call for studies on non-adjacent dependency learning
Dear Researchers,
This is a call for studies that test linguistic non-adjacent
dependency learning in adults, using the artificial grammar learning
paradigm.
We are a team of researchers (Frank Wijnen, Sergey Avrutin, Ileana
Grama, Areti Kotsolakou and Thalassia Kontino) from Utrecht University
and the University of Amsterdam, that are currently working on a
systematic review on the factors that affect linguistic non-adjacent
dependency learning in adults.
Our aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the available
published and unpublished quantitative evidence regarding the factors
that modulate learners’ ability to detect and generalize non-adjacent
dependencies, both at the group level and at the level of individual
differences. We only consider studies with neurotypical adult
participants, that use the artificial language learning paradigm. For
further information you can read our preregistration protocol here:
https://osf.io/mwtqj
Therefore, this is a call for any unpublished data that you would be
interested in sharing (the so called "file-drawer studies"), as well
as any preprints that would qualify for inclusion in our review.
Please send the studies or address any questions to our corresponding
author, Areti Kotsolakou, at a.kotsolakou at uu.nl.
