DiscoMatiX is pleased to announce the second meeting in our Autumn
series. Please join us on 15.11.23 at 14:00 CET on Zoom, when Ingmar
Brilmayer (University of Cologne) will give a short talk entitled
“Combined eyetracking and EEG in an interactive setting: the what, the
why and the wherefore” (abstract below). The talk will be followed by
a 20 minute discussion. To join the meeting, please send an email to
discomatix.group at gmail.com and we will send you the Zoom link.
DiscoMatiX is a newly established interest group for anyone interested
in Discourse and pragMatics using eXperimental approaches, with the
aim of exchanging ideas to critically assess theoretical frameworks
and share best practice for experimental work. You can find further
information on our website: https://discomatix.github.io
Abstract: In this talk, I will talk about setup, data recording and
data analysis in our interactive laboratory in Cologne. In the first
part of the talk, I will talk about the requirements for interactive
research in terms of hardware and software. In the second part of the
talk, I will present two studies that we designed and conducted in our
lab, the difficulties with building the experiment, as well as with
data analysis that arise from the naturalistic design of the studies.
In the last part, I will present results of these experiments, showing
that, despite all the difficulties, it is worth the effort.
We look forward to seeing you on Zoom!
