The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State
University invites applications for a nine- month tenure-track
Assistant Professor position in Hispanic Linguistics (specialization
in Second Language Acquisition) and Director of the Spanish Basic
Language Program, beginning August 2024. Applicants must have a PhD in
Hispanic Linguistics, Linguistics, or a related field. Preference
will be given to candidates who examine the second language
acquisition of Spanish phonology, morphology, syntax, lexicon,
semantics, or pragmatics. The chosen candidate will have
opportunities to contribute to our undergraduate and graduate programs
in Spanish and our undergraduate program in Linguistics. Experience in
coordinating multi-sections is also desirable. The candidate will
teach two courses per semester per the standard teaching assignment
for tenure-track faculty. This may be adjusted for program directing
if needed. Applicants must have met the requirements for the PhD by
the time of appointment.
Candidates are expected to participate in the intellectual life of the
department, whose programs, curriculum, and events bring together
faculty from multiple languages and disciplines. Please visit our
