University of California, Santa Barbara Graduate Students in

The Workshop on American Indigenous Languages is an annual conference
about American Indigenous Languages and Linguistics hosted by the
University of California, Santa Barbara Graduate Students in
Linguistics.
Anonymous abstracts are invited for talks on any topic relevant to the
study of indigenous languages of the Americas. Talks will be 20
minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Abstracts should be
500 words or less (excluding examples, figures, and / or references).
Abstracts and presentations may be given in English or Spanish.
Individuals may submit abstracts for one single-authored and one
co-authored paper. Please indicate your source(s) and type(s) of data
in the abstract (e.g. recordings, texts, conversational, elicited,
narrative, etc.). For co-authored papers, please indicate who plans to
present the paper, who will be in attendance, and who are the
corresponding authors.
Abstracts should be submitted in .pdf format via this Abstract
Submission form. Please submit two abstracts, one with the identifying
information of the person or persons giving the presentation along
with affiliations and contact information, the other with no
indication of the author(s). If authors must be cited, they should be
referred to as (Author [DATE]). For the anonymized abstract, please
make sure to title the abstract with the name of the
presentation/paper and not with the name of the author(s). Author(s)
names in anonymized abstract submission may be rejected or the
author(s) may be asked to revise and resubmit.
Hard copy submissions will be accepted from those who do not have
Internet access. For this, please send two copies of your abstract,
along with the following information: (1) your name; (2) affiliation;
(3) mailing address; (4) phone number; (5) email address; and (6)
title of your paper.

NOTE: WAIL will be prepared to go online at any time prior to the
start, should the need arise due to any risks or dangers posed by the
COVID-19 Pandemic or other health or safety emergencies.
Presenters at WAIL are eligible for inclusion in the Proceedings of
WAIL. Presenters will be given instructions about how to submit their
paper for publication in the Proceedings of WAIL in the month after
WAIL is held. These papers will be subject to editorial review before
being published on our website where they will be publicly available.
All papers must comport with the WAIL style sheet
