Description:

The Faculty of Linguistics and Literature at Bielefeld University has
a job opening for an Academic Researcher in Psycholinguistics.
The group "Psycholinguistics" investigates current topics in the area
of psycholinguistic theory and modelling of spoken language
production. A particular focus is on the interface between linguistic
and motor planning in diverse speaker groups, including multilingual
speakers, speakers with neurogenic language and speech disorders
(including fluency disorders).

Your Tasks
 - research tasks in the area of experimental psycholinguistics with a
focus on speech production processes at the interface to phonetics,
contribution to the development of psycholinguistically motivated
approaches to model human speech production, design and conduction of
experimental studies, analysis of experimental data using current
statistical methods to test predictions of current psycholinguistic
models of speech production. Preparation of scientific publications,
presentation of research results at symposia and conferences,
contribution to research grant applications
 - preparation and teaching of two courses per semester (4 LVS) within
the Linguistics Programs (BA, MA), mainly in the field of
psycholinguistics. Participation in the supervision of students'
bachelor and master theses, including examination
 - participation in general administration of Linguistics programs,
participation in academic self-administration tasks

We expect
 - successfully completed scientific university degree (e. g., Master
or Diploma) in a relevant field (e.g., Linguistics, Psychology)
 - very good completed doctoral degree in a revelant field with a
focus on an area in speech production research
 - very good knowledge in statistical analysis (e.g., mixed effects
models)
 - good programming skills (e.g., R, Python) and willingness to expand
these skills
 - experience with electromagnetic articulography (EMA) or interest
and willingness to acquire this knowledge
 - publication experience in international journals
 - very good written and spoken English
 - cooperative and team-oriented working style
 - the ability to take initiative and work independently
 - strong organizational and coordination skills
 - good communication skills and good presentation skills
 - basic knowledge of German or willingness to learn German

Preferred experience and skills
 - experience in designing and running speech production experiments
 - experience with (computational) psycholinguistic modelling or
willingness to acquire this knowledge
 - experience in University teaching
 - experience in third-party funding
 - experience in interdisciplinary, international project work
