Dear readers,
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each subscriber of the Linguist
List. I was once an avid reader and subscriber myself before having
the privilege of becoming an editor. Reflecting on my first year in
graduate school at Indiana University, I can't help but acknowledge
the profound impact of the Linguist List community's generosity on my
journey.
As an editor, I oversee managing the Jobs, Supports, and Internships
announcements while also creating and managing social media campaigns
on our Facebook and Instagram platforms. Engaging with the vibrant
linguistic community daily is immensely rewarding, especially in
facilitating career opportunities for aspiring linguists. I never
imagined I would get to communicate with such a diverse range of
fields and professions in this role. It is my greatest joy to be a
part of a mission to help others find information and opportunities
they otherwise may never have stumbled across.
However, I must share that the continuity of my current role at the
Linguist List faces uncertainties next year. To ensure the
sustainability of this invaluable resource, I implore readers to
consider making a donation, regardless of its size. Your contribution
will play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuation of our services
and support for linguistic endeavors. The Linguist List is so much
more than a mailing list. It is a tool with the sole purpose of
nurturing a community of young and seasoned linguists to blossom and
enjoy their passions for language. Since I know what it was like to
rely on this tool, and I experience others rely on it on a daily
basis, it pains my heart to imagine that it may not be able to operate
the same next year.
I have been blessed to have found this community and more so for
working with the dedicated Linguist List team. They have exemplified
true passion and fervor for sustaining this invaluable resource, and I
extend my sincerest gratitude toward them.
While the future of the Linguist List is indeed uncertain, YOU can
make all the difference! If we reach our fundraising goal, we can be
assured that this tool will continue to provide job opportunities,
conference announcements, and so much more to linguists around the
world!
If you have already donated, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If
you have not yet donated and are as passionate about the accessibility
of linguistic information as we are, then please donate today! For the
price of a cup of coffee or an afternoon lunch, you can show your
support for your classmates, colleagues, and friends. Each and every
contribution is noticed, and we thank you deeply for your continued
support.

Thank you for listening to the impact that the Linguist List has had
on my life as a graduate student. I look forward to many more days
with the Linguist List and any interaction I might have with our
readers in the search for Career opportunities.
Warm regards,
Rin Steitz
