Subject: Obituary Manfred Bierwisch, 1930 - 2024


It is with great sadness that I convey the news that Manfred Bierwisch
died on July 31, 2024. Manfred Bierwisch has contributed to many
fields in linguistics and the study of language, often in
groundbreaking ways. He did this, in the first part of his
professional life, from a very difficult professional position.

The Leibniz-Zentrum für Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft (ZAS) provides a
memorial page about Manfred with the option to leave written memories
of Manfred Bierwisch in a book of condolences at the following link:

There will be a farewell celebration on August 31, 10 a.m. at Funeral
Hahn, Berlin-Mariendorf, Reißeckstr. 8.
