Dear LAN Members,

The Language Attrition Network invites you to our next session on the
18th of December at 4pm CET (3pm UK time) on Microsoft Teams.
If you are not yet on the mailing list, please send us an e-mail to
attrition.network at gmail.com

Parastoo Kouhestani (University of Tromsø, Norway) will be discussing
her study (see abstract below) entitled “The Role of Linguistic
Distance in First Language Attrition”

Abstract: This project examines a group of Persian-English bilinguals
residing in Canada and a group of Persian-Japanese bilinguals residing
in Japan. The participants are immigrants who are dominant in their
L2. Key variables such as age at immigration and length of residence
in the L2 community will be controlled. Four structural features will
be analyzed in order to investigate the influence of structural
similarity vs dissimilarity between the L1 and L2 on language
attrition rates.

We are looking forward to seeing you online on Microsoft Teams on the
18th! (the link will be sent a couple of days before the event through
the mailing list)
