Description:
The University of Kassel, Institute of English and American Studies –
Chair of Research on Foreign Language Learning and Teaching of English
(Prof. Dr. Tanja Angelovska), invites applications for the following
position:
PhD position / Research Associate (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, Part-Time (20
hours/week), Fixed-Term
- Application Deadline: 01.01.2025
- Start Date: As soon as possible

- Contract Duration: Initially 3 years, with a possible 2-year
extension, and it includes the opportunity to pursue a PhD.
The Chair focuses on empirical research in English language learning
and teaching, examining multilingual contexts, cognitive factors, and
evidence-based approaches.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in foreign language teaching, with a focus on
second/third language acquisition (multilingualism), cognition and/or
cognitive factors, or learning behaviourial challenges.
- Contribute to publications, research projects, and academic events.
- Assist in academic self-administration and teaching activities.
Requirements:
- Completed MA/M.Sc./M.Ed. in second language acquisition,
multilingualism, cognitive sciences, psycholinguistics, TESOL, applied
linguistics, or a related field.
- Empirical research experience and knowledge of quantitative data
analysis.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of the Chair’s research areas.
- Initial publications or conference presentations.
- Experience collaborating with schools or education institutions.
