The Department of Linguistics at McGill University invites
applications for a tenure-track position in phonology at the rank of
Assistant Professor, effective August 1, 2025. Secondary
specializations in one or more of the following areas will be
considered an asset: computational linguistics, fieldwork, indigenous
languages, laboratory phonology, language acquisition, language
variation and change, morphology, phonetics, psycholinguistics, and/or
underdocumented languages.
General qualifications are a PhD in linguistics and demonstrated
excellence in research and teaching in the area(s) of specialization.
Duties will include research, undergraduate and graduate teaching in
phonology and other areas, and graduate research guidance. All McGill
faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities
within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
Applications should include a cover letter, CV, research statement,
teaching statement, teaching evaluations (if available), and two
writing samples. Regarding letters of recommendation, once your
application materials have been submitted, you will be notified via
Workday to provide contact information for three referees. At a later
date, these referees may be contacted by Workday to upload their
reference letters.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

requires communication in both written and spoken English. Knowledge
of French is an asset.
