Subject: Linguistic analysis of the weaponization of language in time of war
Dear colleagues,
In the past few months, I’ve written a series of articles addressed to
the general public about the weaponization of language and linguistics
in the context of the war on Gaza, including viewpoint discrimination
and censorship in that context (see links below). These articles were
written with Noam Chomsky’s article “The Responsibility of
Intellectuals” in mind (see link below). I am hoping to turn the
ideas in these articles into a monograph. So I very much look forward
to any feedback, especially references to work by linguists in the
past year or concerning “The politics of language” (à la David Beaver
& Jason Stanley) in the particular context of the war on Gaza.
