Meeting Description:

The Child Language Symposium brings together researchers in any area
of language development (Artificial Languages,
Bilingualism/Multilingualism, Cognition & Language, Discourse and
Narrative, Gesture, Hearing Impairment and Deafness, Input &
Interaction, Developmental Language Difficulties, Neurolinguistics,
Pragmatics, Pre-linguistic Development, Reading and Literacy, Sign
Languages, Speech Perception & Production, Speech & Language
Intervention.

Call for Papers:

The University of Reading is pleased to host the 2025 edition of the
Child Language Symposium on Monday 8th September (all day), Tuesday
9th September (all day) and Wednesday 10th September (half a day, with
1pm finish) 2025. The Symposium coincides with the University of
Reading celebrating 50 years of speech and language therapy and 60
years of Linguistics and we have planned an exciting programme of
celebrations which will happen in the afternoon/early evening of
Wednesday 10th September and for which conference delegates will be
welcome to attend.

Important dates:
Abstract submission opens – 8th January 2025
Abstract submission closes - 28th February 2025
Decisions on abstract submissions – end of March/early April 2025
Registration opens in April 2025

Submission Guidelines
We welcome submissions in any area of language development (Artificial
Languages, Bilingualism/Multilingualism, Cognition & Language,
Discourse and Narrative, Gesture, Hearing Impairment and Deafness,
Input & Interaction, Developmental Language Difficulties,
Neurolinguistics, Pragmatics, Pre-linguistic Development, Reading and
Literacy, Sign Languages, Speech Perception & Production, Speech &
Language Intervention.
We welcome several types of presentations: 1) individual papers, 2)
posters, 3) workshops/symposia with thematically related papers and 4)
lightning talks (5 min presentations).

Length of abstracts:
paper or poster (250 words max - excluding references and title of
paper and any figures or tables;  workshops/symposia should include
3-4 papers which are related thematically and  an introduction showing
how the papers are related and what the theme covers (maximum 200
words  excluding references, and abstracts for each individual paper
each 250 words excluding references).

Length of presentations in the conference:
Individual papers: 20 min. and 10 min. for discussion and change of
rooms
Workshop/symposium: 90 mins in duration.
Lightning talks: 5 mins each
