Call for Papers:

Journal of Researches in Linguistics; Winter 2025
Special issue editor: Dr. Homa Asadi (University of Isfahan, Iran)
Supervising editor: Dr. Mohammad Amouzadeh (University of Isfahan,
Iran)

The Journal of Researches in Linguistics
(https://jrl.ui.ac.ir/?lang=en) cordially invites submissions for a
special issue focusing on the diverse and dynamic field of phonetics.
Phonetics, as a foundational area of
linguistics, encompasses various subfields that explore the
production, perception, and acoustic properties
of speech sounds. This special issue aims to provide a comprehensive
platform for researchers to present
their latest findings and advancements across all aspects of
phonetics.

Subfields of Interest:

We welcome contributions covering, but not limited to, the following
subfields:
 - Acoustic Phonetics: Exploring the physical properties of speech
sounds, such as spectrographic
analysis, formant frequencies, and signal processing techniques.
- Perceptual Phonetics: Examining how listeners perceive and process
speech sounds, including
studies on speech perception, psycholinguistics, and cognitive
mechanisms.
- Articulatory Phonetics: Investigating the physiological mechanisms
and articulatory gestures
involved in speech production, including studies on speech anatomy,
kinematics, and articulatory
modeling.
- Sociophonetics: Investigating the relationship between social
factors and speech sounds,
including dialect variation, sociolinguistic patterns, and linguistic
identity.
- Acoustic Variation in Languages: Analyzing acoustic differences and
similarities across
languages and dialects, including cross-linguistic studies and
acoustic typology.
- Phonology-Phonetics Interface: Exploring the interaction between
phonological structure and
phonetic realization, including studies on phonological patterns and
their phonetic manifestations.
- Phonetics of Language Acquisition: Investigating the acquisition of
speech sounds in both
native and non-native languages, including studies on phonetic
development and transfer effects.
- Phonetics of Sound Change: Examining the phonetic processes
underlying language evolution
and historical sound change. Phonetics of Bilinguals and
Multilinguals: Analyzing the phonetic characteristics of individuals
who speak multiple languages, including studies on code-switching,
language contact, and
phonetic accommodation.
- Speech Technology: Exploring applications of phonetic research in
speech recognition,
synthesis, and processing, including studies on speech technology
advancements and innovations.
- Clinical Phonetics and Voice Disorders: Investigating phonetic
aspects of speech disorders and
their clinical assessment and treatment, including studies on voice
quality, articulatory disorders,
and speech therapy approaches.
- Multimodal Phonetics: Examining the integration of multiple
modalities in phonetic analysis,
including studies on visual speech perception, gesture-speech
coordination, and multimodal
communication.

Submission Guidelines:
- Manuscripts should be original research contributions and adhere to
the journal's formatting
guidelines.
- Please refer to the submission guidelines available at: Submission
Guidelines.
- Submissions undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure
academic rigor and quality.
- Please submit your papers electronically via the journal's online
submission system.

Important Dates:
- Deadline for Submission: September 30, 2024
- Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: November 30, 2024
- Publication Date: Winter 2025

We look forward to receiving your contributions and advancing our
understanding of phonetics in the
upcoming special issue.
