The Department of English Philology at the Georg-August University
Göttingen is offering
Scientific employee/assistant (Postdoc/lecturer) (f/m/d)
with 100 % of the regular weekly working hours (currently 39,8
hours/week) for a limited period of 5 years starting at the 1st of
October 2024. Remuneration is according to the German public salary
scale TV-L 13.
Your tasks:
In addition to teaching courses in syntax/linguistics according to §
31 NHG and in the performance examinations, the field of activity
includes research tasks in (English) linguistics with a focus on
syntax, the syntax-semantics interface and the like. The teaching load
is based on the currently version of the LVVO; it is currently 4 SWS
for the vacant position (two courses per semester). The position
serves to qualify young academics and offers the possibility of a
habilitation. It is not suitable for part-time work.
Your profile:
Prerequisites are a completed academic university education (PhD) in
(English) linguistics or in a related subject, as well as a research
focus in syntax or a neighboring field. In addition, very good
knowledge of the English language is required. Applicants who have not
yet received their PhD degree at the time of submission should submit
a declaration by the supervisor(s) that the degree will be obtained
before starting the Postdoc position.

- A copy of the PhD thesis (or a representative chapter of the thesis
or a paper);
- The contact details of three academic referees.
