Description:
The Department of Psychology and the Department of Chicano Studies,

(UTEP) announce an interdisciplinary search for a faculty position at
the rank of Associate Professor or Professor for the Regents’ Research
Excellence Program. We seek someone with an active program on the
social and cultural contexts of bilingualism or on individual
differences in bilingualism. Responsibilities include conducting and
publishing research, seeking and securing extramural funding, teaching
at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and serving the department,
university, and profession. Salary and startup packages will be
competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Three months of
summer salary will be guaranteed for the first three years. Also,
those hired at the Professor level will be given the title Regents’
Distinguished Research Professor, and those hired at the Associate
Professor level will be given that title upon promotion to the rank of
Professor.

publication in high-impact journals and a strong history of extramural
research support.
Review of applications will begin September 1st and continue until the
positions are filled. Applicants must submit:

the department and to the bilingual research profile of UTEP
3. Statement of research interests and qualifications
4. Contact information for three professional references

About the Departments and Bilingualism Research at UTEP:
The Psychology Department has 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty
members, with 5 who conduct cognitive research on bilingualism. The
Ph.D. program has a concentration in Bilingualism, Language, and
Cognition for which both Psychology and Linguistics faculty can serve
as mentors. The Department of Chicano Studies, Languages, and
Linguistics, which includes the Chicano Studies Program, has 10
tenured and tenure-track faculty members, 5 of whom conduct linguistic
research on bilingualism. Faculty in the Speech-Language Pathology
Program and the College of Education also conduct research on
bilingualism. Faculty from several departments participate in an
interdisciplinary Consortium, and UTEP has recently been approved to
establish a chapter of Bilingualism Matters.
