Meeting Description:

International Conference on Rhetoric “Days of Ivo Škarić” is a
conference in honor of late Professor Emeritus Ivo Škarić, the most
prominent and influential Croatian expert in rhetoric, has become a
biennial meeting point for experts in the interdisciplinary field of
rhetoric.

We had the pleasure to host scholars from Europe and North America,
all prominent authorities in argumentation theory, stylistics and
visual rhetoric, as our keynote speakers (Leo Groarke, Igor Ž. Žagar,
Frans H. van Eeemeren, Jens E. Kjeldsen, Christopher Tindale, Michael
Burke, Krešimir Bagić, Petra Aczel, Nick Turnbull, and Cornelia Ilie).

Call for Papers:

We invite you to the seventh International Conference on Rhetoric
“Days of Ivo Škarić” and would be honored if you contributed to its
success by sharing your research findings in the fields of rhetoric,
argumentation theory, stylistics, informal logic, communication
studies and neighboring disciplines. The conference in honor of late
Professor Emeritus Ivo Škarić, the most prominent and influential
Croatian expert in rhetoric, has become a biennial meeting point for
experts in the interdisciplinary field of rhetoric.

We had the pleasure to host scholars from Europe and North America,
all prominent authorities in argumentation theory, stylistics and
visual rhetoric, as our keynote speakers (Leo Groarke, Igor Ž. Žagar,
Frans H. van Eeemeren, Jens E. Kjeldsen, Christopher Tindale, Michael
Burke, Krešimir Bagić, Petra Aczel, Nick Turnbull, and Cornelia Ilie).

The 2025 conference will be organized from April 23rd to 26th once
again in the town of Postira, on the beautiful island of Brač,
Croatia. Keynote speakers will be: dr. Janja Žmavc, associate
professor and senior research associate at Pedagoški inštitut
(Slovenia), dr. Dima Mohammed, Coordinator at ArgLab, senior research
fellow at Nova Institute of Philosophy, and a guest professora at
Departamento de Ciências de Comunicação (Portugal), and dr. Viktorija
Car, full professor at Communication and Media (University of Split).

The main themes of the conference are 1. RHETORIC IN EDUCATION 2.
POLITICAL ARGUMENTATION 3. RHETORIC AND COMMUNICATION
Conference themes include, but are not limited to:
 - argumentation and law
 - argumentation theory
 - history of rhetoric
 - rhetoric and philosophy
 - rhetoric and stylistics
 - rhetoric in the media
 - rhetoric of political discourse
 - rhetoric of religious discourse
 - rhetoric of science
 - visual rhetoric.

The deadline for sending abstracts is November 15th 2024 and after the
peer review process the final decisions will be announced by December
15th 2024. Please send your abstract to daniiveskarica at gmail.com.
Deadline for early bird registration is February 1st 2025 with the
registration fee of 180 € (90 € for Master and Ph.D. students).

The language of the conference is English. Abstracts should contain
between 350 – 400 words. The following information should be included:
 - Name of author(s)
 - Affiliation (for each author if more than one)
 - Contact email (for each author if more than one)
 - Title of presentation
 - Abstract (350 - 400 words)
 - Keywords (up to four keywords)
 - References (not required, but the maximum of four references can be
used if necessary).
