Meeting Description:
PaPE 2025 is the sixth conference of the PaPE series which aims at
being an interdisciplinary forum for research on all areas of
phonetics and phonology, promoting the study of speech approached from
multiple perspectives, including experimental phonetics, formal
phonology, neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, computational
linguistics, and speech technologies.
Call for Papers:
The theme of PaPE 2025 is 'Phonetics and Phonology in a Multilingual
World'. We particularly welcome contributions that are relevant to the
study of speech in multilingual environments, bi/multilingual
acquisition, and language contact and variation.
Proposals that are not directly linked to multilingual topics are also
welcomed.
A non-exhaustive list of potential topics includes the following:
- Typical and atypical early language acquisition
- L2 speech learning, development and processing
- Sound change and language contact
- Phonetic and phonological accommodation
- Language attitudes and identities
- Migration and language: space, time, sociocultural factors
- Youth language
- Phonological and reading development
- Sociolinguistic and pedagogical aspects of multilingualism
- Minority/endangered languages
- Sign languages
- Phonetics and phonology across species
Submission information:
Abstracts should be written in English and not exceed one page of text
(A4), although an additional page for references, examples, and
figures may also be added. Please use the Word template provided. If
using the template is not possible, please format your abstract as
follows: Times New Roman font, size 12, 2.54 cm (1 inch) margins,
single spacing. Do not include author names or affiliations, and
submit as property-free PDF file using author names separated by
underscores as filename (e.g., surname1_surname2_surname3.pdf).
Abstracts may be submitted either for a ‘talk/poster’, or as a ‘poster
only’. Authors may submit one abstract as first author and up to three
abstracts as a co-author.
Abstracts may be submitted from 23 July to 12 November 2024 through
Oxford Abstracts.
