Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Maryland is looking
to fill up to 2 positions for post-baccalaureate researchers. Starting
date for all positions is late Summer or Fall 2024. Salary is
competitive, with benefits included. The positions would be ideal for
individuals with a BA or BS degree who are interested in gaining
significant research experience in a very active research group as
preparation for a research career. Applicants must already have
permission to work in the US, or be a Canadian citizen or permanent

appointment. The ability to interact comfortably with a wide variety
of people (and machines) is a distinct advantage.

Details about these positions may be found here:

For best consideration, applications should be submitted by June 24,
2024. Review of applications has already begun, and will continue
until the positions are filled.

 Applicants should submit:
- A cover letter. Outline your background experience and identify
faculty mentors of interest (see list below). Applicants should feel
free to indicate multiple mentors of interest, as co-mentorship is
both possible and fruitful. Cover letters should be in pdf format
(filename: lastname_cover.pdf).
- A current curriculum vitae, in pdf format (filename:
lastname_cv.pdf)
- The names and email addresses of three potential referees (letters
are not needed as part of the initial application). This information
should be provided both on your CV and in the text of the email that
contains these file attachments.
- A writing sample

The faculty mentors who are available this year are:

Omar Agha (semantics and pragmatics)
Naomi Feldman (computational psycholinguistics)
Valentine Hacquard (semantics, language acquisition)
Aron Hirsch (syntax, semantics, pragmatics, prosody, sentence
processing)
