Description:

This position is available within the Department of Linguistics,
working with Professor Tamara Rathcke and Professor George Walkden,
conducting research and teaching in English linguistics. Working
languages are English and German.

The start date is April 1st, 2025. The position is available on an
open-ended basis. If the personal and legal requirements are met, a
transfer to civil servant status (salary scale A 13, Akademische*r
Rat/*Rätin) is possible. The position can be divided into two
part-time positions.

The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence
in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence
Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.

Your Responsibilities:
 - Teaching 9 hours per week per semester (Semesterwochenstunden)
 - Supervising student theses at all levels (BA, BEd, MA, MEd)
 - Academic advising for the MA Linguistics, including the Double
Degree Verona
 - Conducting independent research in English and general linguistics
 - Applying for third-party funding and participating in larger
research initiatives (Research Units, CRCs, Excellence Clusters)
 - Shared administrative duties within English linguistics

Your Profile:
 - Doctorate in a relevant area of linguistics (degree certificate
must be in hand by date of application)
 - Strong research profile in English linguistics, as witnessed by
multiple publications in this area
 - Record of high-quality teaching in multiple areas of English
linguistics (at least two of: phonetics, phonology, morphology,
syntax, semantics, pragmatics)
 - Excellent (C2 CEFR) level of written and spoken English
 - German skills at least B1 CEFR
 - Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
