presents
2nd CLAN International Conference cum Workshop
Date: August 28th – August 30th, 2024
Theme: Corpus Linguistics and Digital Humanities: A Nexus for
Teaching, Research and Societal Development
Venue: Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria
Background
Corpus linguistics is a method and field within linguistics that
examines actual language use in different (in)formal contexts,
including religion, politics, education, literature, and media using
computer-based corpora. Digital humanities, on the other hand,
leverages digital tools to explore data in the humanities,
encompassing language, literature, theatre, philosophy, history,
religion and music. These two intersecting fields involve the use of
computer-based corpora, which are valuable for teaching, research and
societal development in the digital age. For instance, the recent
inclusion of digital humanities in the Nigerian university curriculum
for the humanities centralises the need to investigate and understand
the ontological, empirical and pedagogical ramifications of corpus
linguistics and digital humanities for researchers, practitioners, and
learners in Nigeria, and the world over. We invite scholars in Nigeria
