Meeting Description:

The European Australianist Workshop provides an opportunity for
linguists working on (or interested in) Australian languages who live
in or travel through Europe to present current research, discuss
ideas, and generally consolidate the (already vibrant) European
Australianist network. For this year’s edition, TAM, modality and
negation will a topic of special interest, with a special session on
5. September. Josh Phillips (Stanford University) will be our keynote
speaker for this ‘modality & negation’ session.

Call for Papers:

Following our very successful 2023 gathering in Köln, the 11th edition
of the European Australianist Workshop will take place on 3.-5.
September, at the Forest Ecology station of the Université Paris-Cité
in Fontainebleau, near Paris. The workshop will be held in association
with the ‘Sentential Negation Across the Globe’ (SNAG) workshop, which
will immediately follow EAW (5-6. September).

If you would like to give a talk this year, please send an abstract of
up to 500 words (including examples, excluding references) to
eaw2024 at llf-paris.fr by Monday 10. June. The exact format of the
presentations will be confirmed once the program has been established,
but at this point we anticipate a 30+10 pattern.

We also encourage colleagues to attend the conference without giving a
talk. If you would like to do so, please register by sending an email
to eaw2024 at llf-paris.fr – but places are limited, as the workshop
cannot involve more than about 20 participants; therefore, the earlier
you register, the better. Workshop participants can be hosted on site
– about 15 rooms are available, some being shared rooms.
Alternatively, you can also book a hotel room in Fontainebleau or
Avon.
