The Class of Language of the Graduate School Language & Literature
Munich is inviting
applications for doctoral places starting the winter semester of
2024/25.

Application deadline: June 2, 2024.

Doctoral students in the Class of Language at LMU Munich will benefit
from excellent
conditions, including a research-oriented and systematically
structured interdisciplinary
teaching program, as well as individual and intensive supervision by
professors from
various linguistic disciplines. Members of the Class of Language also
benefit from diverse
opportunities for academic exchange between doctoral students,
professors, and
international guests, as well as from the provision of key
qualifications and financial
support (e.g. for research or conference trips). Doctoral students in
the Class of Language
also have excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation
with doctoral peers from
the Class of Language Education, the Class of Literature, or the Class
of Culture and
History, all of which are also embedded in the Graduate School
Language & Literature
Munich.

Applicants are expected to provide a convincing project outline, an
above-average
university degree (state examination, state board examination,
Magister Artium, diploma,
Master of Arts, Maîtrise, Laurea, etc.) in a linguistic discipline,
teamwork skills, willingness
to actively participate in the class, and adequate knowledge of at
least two European
scientific languages, including German.

Unfortunately, a position with funding cannot be provided at the
moment. However,
successful applicants will receive assistance in exploring alternative
