***Apologies for cross-posting ***
Dear colleagues,
the European Civil Society Platform for Multilingualism (ECSPM) has
recently published a Declaration for Multilingualism in Higher
Education - you can find it here in many languages <https://ecspm.org/
declaration-for-multilingualism-in-higher-education/>. We already have
around 900 signatures.
We would like to ask members of the LinguistList who have not signed
the declaration yet to consider signing it and to convince other
colleagues to sign it as well. Here is the link to the on-line
petition:
ilingual-spaces?recruiter=1309039503&recruited_by_id=6418e960-facc-11e
d-b5b9-23a1393bb7b8&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=share_for_s
tarters_page&utm_medium=copylink>.
During the third week of May, the ECSPM Executive Committee has
planned to have a series of meetings with European Commission
officials so as to negotiate that multilingualism in teaching and
learning, research and publishing, governance and communication in
higher education be legitimated through explicit institutional
language policies. A stronger case can be made if 1,000 signatures
have been reached.
With best regards,
—Theo Marinis
