Meeting Description:

We welcome you to participate in the 1st Eurasian Congress of
Linguists, to be held in Moscow, Russia, Dec. 9-13, 2024. A major
international forum, organized on the initiative of the Institute of
Linguistics RAS with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher
Education of the Russian Federation, the Congress is one in a series
of academic activities to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the
Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

The mission of the Congress is to provide a venue where linguists from
all over the world could share the results of their research and
present their findings addressing the most topical issues of language
studies. One of the objectives of the Congress is to introduce young
scholars to the latest advances in the language sciences in all their
diversity. Broader audiences will be able to enjoy public discussions
on socially important aspects of linguistics during the Congress as
well.

The Congress will feature 8 plenary lectures, 18 parallel oral
sessions, 10 parallel round tables and two large poster sessions. A
number of prominent linguists from different countries have already
agreed to be plenary speakers at the Congress.

Oral parallel sessions will focus on the following areas of research,
reflecting the key issues in linguistics, including all language
groups in Eurasia and other regions as well as general problems of
linguistics:
- Language diversity and variation: diachronic, typological and areal
aspects
- Language theory from phonetics to pragmatics
- Spoken language and multichannel communication
- Psycho- and neurolinguistics
- Computational linguistics and artificial intelligence
- Sociolinguistics
- Indo-European languages of Europe
- Russian language
- Turkic languages
- Languages of the Caucasus
- Iranian languages
- Semitic languages
- Languages of South Asia
- Uralic languages
- Languages of Siberia, the North, the Far East of Russia and adjacent
areas
- Languages of China and Southeast Asia
- Languages of Africa
- General (other topics of interest for linguistics, including
languages of other areas)

Oral presentations are limited to 25 minutes, including discussion.
Poster sessions will be organized according to the same areas of
research as oral ones. Be advised to submit your abstract for oral and
poster sessions before June 30. The abstract should fall in one of the
18 fields of study listed above. The review of abstracts will be held
separately for each area. An abstract may be accepted for oral or
poster presentation at the discretion of the Program Committee.

We also announce a call for organizing round tables. The winners of
the competition will be delegated the right to choose their round
table presenters. Individual round table presentations will be limited
to 20 minutes. Please, submit your proposals for organizing round
tables by June 30.

Abstracts for oral and poster sessions and proposals for organizing
round tables will only be accepted through the registration form (http
s://iling-ran.ru/web/en/conferences/2024_eacl/submission_guidelines#su
bmission-manual). Abstracts and proposals sent by e-mail will not be
considered.

Submission guidelines and abstract guidelines are available at the
Congress page on the website of the Institute of Linguistics RAS (http

The Congress will be held in the form of a traditional in-person
event. The organizers plan to cover the travel and accommodation
expenses for presenters traveling from other cities and countries.

Working languages: English and Russian. Simultaneous interpretation
will be provided for plenary talks, oral sessions, and round tables.
Plenary lectures will be accompanied by sign language interpretation
(Russian SL and/or International Sign).

June 30, 2024 – Submission deadline for abstracts and round table
proposals
August 15, 2024 – Results of proposals review for round table
organization returned to applicants
September 20, 2024 – Results of abstract review returned to applicants
for oral and poster sessions
October 2024 – Congress program finalized
