Description:

The Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science at the University
of Delaware invites applications for a Continuing Track Assistant
Professor in Language and Communication Disorders. The appointment is
expected to begin on August 16, 2025.  The primary responsibilities of
this position are to teach and mentor undergraduate students in
Cognitive Science and Speech-Language Pathology, and to participate in
departmental and university-wide service. Primary teaching duties
would include courses for the Speech-Language Pathology specialization
in the Cognitive Science major and/or related courses for the
Cognitive Science major (e.g., Neurobiology of Language, Topics
courses in Cognitive Science, etc.)  The successful candidate will
demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and is also
expected to contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
within the department and the university.

The Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science
(https://www.lingcogsci.udel.edu) offers a PhD in Linguistics, a
Master's degree in Linguistics and Cognitive Science, a Bachelor of
Science degree in Cognitive Science that includes a track for
Speech-Language Pathology, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Linguistics.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of the position is to teach, advise, and
mentor at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will have
a Ph.D. in Language disorders, Communication disorders, Linguistics,
or a related field, and is expected to contribute to the department’s
goals in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Clinical certification in
speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) and prior teaching experience are
strongly preferred.

THE DEPARTMENT OF LINGUISTICS AND COGNITIVE SCIENCE AT UD:
The Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science at the University

Arts and Sciences. Faculty in the department have opportunities for
teaching growth and development at the Center for Teaching and
Assessment of Learning (https://ctal.udel.edu/). The department runs a
renowned Ph.D. program in Linguistics, a Master’s degree in
Linguistics and Cognitive Science, a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive
Science which includes a concentration in Speech-Language Pathology,
and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics. The department also has
