Subject: Master's degree (online): Systemic Functional Linguistics: Theory and Applications
Coordinated by Jorge Arús-Hita and Christian Matthiessen, the
Permanent Training Master's degree in Systemic Functional Linguistics:
Theory and Application provides students with a general foundation and
an attractive range of courses dealing with application and expanding
on descriptive and theoretical topics. SFL is presented as a resource
for engaging with language and other semiotic systems in their
contexts of culture; this engagement covers both expert scientific
knowledge about language and semiotic systems in general and expert
skills needed in the analysis of texts (discourses) and the
development of descriptions of linguistic systems based on texts, both
small samples and large corpora. In short, students will be empowered
both to reflect and to act. The first edition of this Master's degree
will be starting in January 2025. For more information:
