Meeting Description:

We are excited to welcome you to the 10th Conference of the
International Society for Gesture Studies (ISGS), taking place from
9-11 July 2025 at Radboud University in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
Nijmegen has long been a hub for multimodal language studies, with a
rich history spanning over three decades. We look forward to honoring
this long tradition as the host of ISGS 2025, celebrating the field’s
advancements and looking with great excitement toward the future.

Recent technological advances have launched us into a new era of
multimodal language research. Innovations in computer vision, virtual
reality, motion capture, eye-tracking, large language models, and
robotics hold great promise for quantifying the properties of visual
language and uncovering the relationships between motion and meaning
across diverse social contexts, languages, and speakers. ISGS 2025
aims to unite researchers from various fields and perspectives who
employ traditional and novel approaches to deepen our knowledge about
sign language, gesture use, (neuro)processing, acquisition and
learning, and social interaction, among others.

Keynote speakers:
Erica Cartmill (Indiana University)
Tilbe Göksun (Koç University)
Johanna Mesch (Stockholm University)
Lorna Quandt (Gallaudet University)
Mark Turner (Western Reserve University)
