Meeting Description:
This workshop aims to address the topic of expressivity from a formal
and interdisciplinary perspective. Although expressivity has been the
focus of several linguistic and philosophical discussions, it has been
little studied in Latin American linguistics. This workshop aims to
relate the investigations of linguists on the subject with Latin
American philosophers of language who have a slightly more extensive
trajectory in the investigation of the expressive dimension of natural
languages.
Invited speakers:
Xavier Villalba (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain)
María José Fortran (Universidade Federal do Paraná, Brazil)
This second workshop will be held with the aim of disseminating and
putting into contact research related to expressiveness, both from a
linguistic and a philosophical perspective.
The main objectives of this activity are to disseminate local and
regional research; support the initiation of undergraduate students
into linguistic and philosophical research; create spaces for
discussion about the research being carried out and promote exchanges
between researchers in the region.
For this reason, the workshop opens its call for abstracts for
presentations. Submitted papers may address any aspect of
expressiveness, both from a linguistic and philosophical point of
view. Proposals involving ongoing research will be accepted. We
particularly encourage the submission of papers by postgraduate
students.
Call for Papers:
Abstracts must be written in Portuguese, Spanish or English and have a
maximum of 2 pages (including examples, references, tables and
graphs), in A4 format, with 2.5cm margins, Arial or similar font in
size 11.
Email for sending abstracts: anaclarapo at gmail.com
The deadline for submitting abstracts is February 15th.
Notification of evaluation will be sent no later than March 15th.
