Research Synthesis in Applied Linguistics Special Interest Group of
the British Association for Applied Linguistics is delighted to invite
you to our December SIG online event, which will be in three sessions.

Session 1 (Workshop)
Title: AI-Supported Evidence Synthesis: An Introduction to EPPI
Reviewer
Summary of the workshop:
This workshop will introduce you to the evidence synthesis platform
EPPI Reviewer. It will provide an overview of software functionality
at each stage of the review process, including the use of machine
learning to enhance searching and screening, as well as discuss
current developments in using large language models to assist with
screening and data extraction. There will be an opportunity to ask
questions and further training resources will be provided to enable
you to try the software out for yourself.

About the speaker:
Dr. Melissa Bond is a Research Fellow at the EPPI Centre (University
College London) and the National Institute of Teaching, as well as an
Adjunct Associate Professor in Qualitative Evidence Synthesis at the
University of Stavanger. Her research focuses on improving evidence
synthesis methods and researcher capacity, as well as the use of
digital evidence synthesis tools, alongside research in digital
learning and teacher education. Melissa is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the
Review of Education journal,  a founding editorial board member of the
Nordic Journal of Systematic Reviews in Education, and a member of the
Center for Open Education Research.


Session 2
Title: Soft Launch the Research Synthesis in Applied Linguistics
(RSAL) Journal
Summary:
In this session, the editors-in-chief of RSAL will introduce the new
journal, focusing on its scope and submission categories. They will
share how prospective authors can prepare their manuscripts for
submission to the journal. Opportunities for peer reviewing for the
journal will be shared.

Session 3 (SIG members only)
Title: SIG Annual General Meeting
Summary:

SIG Committee members will be held.
