Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 10-Jan-2025

Meeting Description:

The Research Network Languages and Language at the Crossroads of
Disciplines (LLcD), funded by the CNRS, aims to create an
international forum where linguists working in different fields,
within various theoretical frameworks, and on different types of
languages (spoken, written, signed, tactile, etc.) can engage in
dialogue. It explicitly incorporates interdisciplinary fields (such as
NLP, psycholinguistics, etc.).

We are pleased to announce the Call for Workshops for the 2nd edition
of the conference "Languages and Language at the Crossroads of
Disciplines" (LLcD), organized as part of the GDR LLcD and which will
take place at the University of Lille, from 1st to 3rd September 2025.

The 2025 LLcD conference will include a general session and thematic
workshops.

Call for Papers:

We invite workshop proposals covering all sub-disciplines of
linguistics, a variety of languages, and diverse approaches
(descriptive, theoretical, empirical, interdisciplinary, etc.), with
the aim of promoting diversity across disciplines and methodologies.
Proposals are not required to align with the main theme of the
conference. Learn more here.

Each workshop will consist of 30-minute time slots (20' for
presentation, 5' for discussion, and 5' for room transition) and must
include at least 7 presentations. The working languages of the
conference will be English and French.

Guidelines.
Workshop proposals should be submitted as PDF documents and include
the following information:
    1. Workshop title and five keywords.
    2. Names, affiliations, and email addresses of the workshop
organizers.
    3. Workshop description summarizing (i) the subject, (ii) the
state of the art, (iii) the research questions, (iv) objectives, and
(v) the relevant (sub-)discipline(s), accompanied by a bibliography
(between 500 and 1,000 words, excluding references).

Optionally, the proposal may also include:
    1. Short abstracts (around 300 words) and non-anonymous
submissions of presentations proposed for the workshop. [If the
workshop is accepted, these abstracts will have to be resubmitted
anonymously as part of the general call for submissions and will
undergo the same review process as other abstracts.]
    2. Names of any potential invited speakers. [Please note that LLcD
will not cover travel or registration fees.]

The proposals will be submitted via the following link:
https://llcd2025.sciencesconf.org/submission/submit?lang=en
(The submission page will require to create an account on the platform
SciencesConf if you do not already have one)

The review of proposals will take into account, among other factors,
the interest and originality of the theme and objectives, as well as
their feasibility in the LLcD Conference format with at least 7
presentations. While not required for selection, proposals that are
innovative and interdisciplinary will also be considered favorably.

Review Procedure.
Workshop proposals will be reviewed by the LLcD Scientific Committee,
with final inclusion in the conference program decided in
collaboration with the conference co-chairs. The review will take into
account, among other factors, the interest and originality of the
theme and objectives, as well as their feasibility in the LLcD
Conference format with at least 7 presentations. While not required
for selection, proposals that are innovative and interdisciplinary
will also be considered favorably.

The list of accepted workshops will be posted on the conference
website: http://llcd2025.sciencesconf.org
A call for papers will then be published for individual submissions to
the accepted workshops and general session of LLcD 2025.
These will be reviewed by three reviewers from the LLcD Scientific
Committee, with the possibility of including experts suggested by the
workshop organizers.
